6 Days Migration Western Corridor

Overview
As the wildebeest migration moves into late spring and early summer, the herds gradually spread out across the plains of the Serengeti. By the end of April, they begin heading west, with many groups traveling through the central Serengeti, particularly the Seronera area. The Southern Plains just south of Seronera also host large numbers of wildebeest during April and May, making it one of the best times to witness the migration in this part of the Serengeti.
By June, the majority of the herds can be found in the Western Corridor, a narrow but critical stretch of land that runs from the western part of Seronera to the Serengeti National Park’s western border. This area presents one of the migration’s most dramatic moments: the Grumeti River crossing. As the herds head northward, they must cross this perilous river, often drawing large crowds of predators like crocodiles, lions, and hyenas.
Witnessing a Grumeti River crossing is a rare and unpredictable event, requiring a combination of timing, patience, and luck. The migration through the Western Corridor is one of the most thrilling parts of the journey, offering an unforgettable glimpse into the challenges and dangers faced by the wildebeest as they continue their epic trek across the Serengeti.

Tour Plan
We depart from Arusha for a 4-hour drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving in time for lunch. Afterward, we descend into the crater for an afternoon safari, spotting wildlife like wildebeest, elephants, lions, and leopards. We'll also visit Lake Magadi, home to flamingos and hippos, before dinner and overnight accommodation.
We begin with a 5-hour drive to Serengeti National Park, leaving the highlands and entering the vast plains. Arriving in the Seronera area, rich in wildlife near the Seronera River, we enjoy a game drive en route to the lodge. After lunch, we explore the park further on an afternoon game drive.
Be one of only a few fortunate people to glide in a Hot Air Balloon over the Serengeti Plains (available at supplementary cost by pre-arrangement). Floating silently above the awakening bush, while spotting wildlife and enjoying the amazing scenery of Africa, across rivers and over numerous small villages.
After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. The wildebeest migration normally pass through the area in April & May, however the Seronera area is within reach of both the southern plains and the Western Corridor. The resident game in the area is phenomenal and species such as elephant, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lion and a variety of other predators and herbivores can be seen here all year round.
Explore the range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world famous Serengeti short grass plains. See great herds of wildebeest and zebra. During a short time frame around February, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calve. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.
Dinner and overnight in the Seronera area, as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.
After breakfast, we drive for 2 hours to the Western Serengeti, enjoying a game drive en-route. Arriving in time for lunch, we then embark on an afternoon game drive, exploring the area where the wildebeest migration can be found in June. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in the Western Corridor, known for the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers, supporting abundant wildlife like zebra, wildebeest, predators, and birdlife. Large pods of hippos and crocodiles can be seen in the Grumeti River. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
After breakfast, we depart for Arusha, enjoying a game drive through Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Alternatively, you can take a scheduled flight from Grumeti to Arusha. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for lunch and overnight stay, marking the end of your safari. Contact us for flexible departure dates and more information.
