When is the best time of the year to visit Tanzania? This is the question that will pop in your head whenever you start planning your safari.
The best time to visit is largely dependent on what you want to visit & how you want your visit to be. All this can be largely influenced by the weather on your time of visit
Tanzania has a very typical tropical climate, but it varies depending on the area you visit. (In short, it’s not the same being on the shore of a beach than it is being 1,000 meters above sea level).
Temperatures at relatively low altitudes rarely drop below 20ºC at any point in the year.
Throughout the year you can visit Tanzania attractions but it is during the dry season (June to October) that is regarded by many as the best time to visit Tanzania.
During this time animals are easier to spot as with water shortages the vegetation weakens thus improving the visibility of animals who will be concentrated at water sources.
Also, because it is a dry season, it is easy to move around and there are many activities that you can do.
Moreover, you can witness the great migration during this period.
However, this is a peak season therefore prices are high and there are many travelers .
Other favorable time to visit Tanzania is from November to March
In November it is expected to be dry so it is a great time to visit.
In December the great migration herds are back in Serengeti.
In January to February the great wildebeest migration calving season, this is yet another highlight of the migration with about half a million new-births through this period.
March – almost ends the wildebeest calving season
