Detailed Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival in Arusha
A driver from Meru Slopes will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and take you to your hotel. We’ll have the rest of the day to ourselves. You will attend the tour briefing in the evening to get ready for the safari that is coming up. The type of lodging you have is full-board.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
At 8:00 am, we will come to your Arusha hotel and take you on a three-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. You will go on a full-day game drive inside the park as soon as you arrive. We will transport you to the Fanaka Lodge later on so you can spend the night and have dinner there. The 2800 km2 Tarangire National Park is located 115 km from Arusha. The Tarangire River, from which the park gets its name, supplies water to wild animals. The wildlife of the park, which includes lions, elephants, leopard pythons, and various tree species like the baobab tree, is one of its main draws.
Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti Np
Following breakfast, we’ll head into the lush highlands, where the Iraqi people cultivate corn, wheat, and coffee. We will travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stop at the breathtakingly beautiful Ngorongoro Crater. A volcano erupted, creating this crater, about 3 million years ago. After that, we’ll carry on to Serengeti National Park. In Mara, the Maasai people’s original language, the word “Serengeti” means “endless plains.” It will be around noon when we get to the park. With its varied landscapes and habitats, including grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains, the Serengeti is the largest national park in Tanzania.
You might be able to see thousands of animals as they migrate through the area every year, looking for food and water, depending on the season. We will take you to your campsite where you will have dinner and spend the night after a long game drive.
Day 4: Serengeti Full game drive
The entire day is set aside for game drives in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti has abundant wildlife habitat, such as impalas, buffalos, crocodiles, and hippos. However, it is more well-known for its annual migration of herds of zebras and wildebeests. The rainfall determines the time of year when the animals migrate and varies annually. In November and December, the animals move from the northern region, dominated by woodlands and hills, to the grassy plains of the south. They return to the north during the extended rainy season from April to June. Apart from the migrating herds, you might have the chance to see predators, such as leopards, cheetahs, and lions, always lurking nearby.
After an unforgettable day, you will return to the campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro
After breakfast, you will head out for another game drive in Serengeti National Park. You might spot the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard) before embarking on your journey to Ngorongoro Crater. The animals roam freely through the unfenced reserves, offering an uninterrupted game-viewing experience. Arriving at the crater’s edge, you will have a glimpse of what awaits you the following day—glistening streams, open grassland, and an infinite amount of animals. You will spend the night at the Ngorongoro Public Simba campsites on the crater’s edge, with the orange glow of the sunset surrounding you as you drift off to sleep.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour
The breathtaking views of the rising sun over the crater’s edge reward early risers! After a hearty breakfast, you will drive down the adventurous track into the crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the Seven Wonders of Africa and the most incredible ecosystems on Earth, formed millions of years ago in the massive explosion of a volcano. It is 610 m deep and covers roughly 260 square kilometers. Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25, 000, the crater offers the best game-viewing of all the parks in Tanzania. In a matter of minutes, you will see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and some of the more than 500 bird species in the area. You might catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino through the grass with a bit of luck. After the game drives in Ngorongoro Crater, you will drive back to Arusha for dinner and overnight at the Venice Hotel.
Day 7: Arusha
This marks the last day of your 7-day private camping tour to witness the great migration. We will drive you to Kilimanjaro International Airport after breakfast, or you can choose to continue your journey with a beach vacation in Zanzibar.
